Ramadan Poetry Contest

I just got information that Muslimmatters.org currently has a Ramadan poetry contest in progress. The theme is “Ramadan” and any poetry form can be entered. The contest is open to all ages from around the world. Entries will be available on the website where readers can vote for their favourite. Then a panel of judges will select winners from the favourites. There are cash prizes to be won. I think it is wonderful that a sum equal to the prize is going to be given in charity in the winners name. The deadline for entries is Ramadan 10th (this could be August 20th or 21st depending on when you started fasting, but the website states that entries will be accepted until the later date).

Please see the following link for more information on rules and conditions: http://muslimmatters.org/2010/08/05/ramadan-poetry-contest/

UPDATE! (Aug. 30th): The semifinalists are being put up now (and over the next few days) on the muslimmatters.org website. There are some really wonderful pieces of poetry, MashaAllah! And you have the opportunity to read them AND vote for the best. So get going! Go to http://muslimmatters.org/2010/08/29/ramadan-2010-mm-poetry-contest-semifinalists-day-1/
