What’s happening in July

source: Carlos Porter freedigitalphoto.net

It’s been seven months since I started this blog, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah). Quite a lot has happened since the start including an addition to the name of the blog (thinking about a new layout/colour scheme as well). I have added Ummah Reads as the main title for this blog and kept the original one as a subtitle. The aim of this blog still remains the same though; to provide book recommendations and reviews of Muslim children’s books and media.

Over the months I have met some wonderful parents, teachers, publishers and authors who have found this blog to be useful. I pray that the blog continues to grow in what it offers to readers. So far I have had the privilege of a two authors sharing their advice and experience and I hope in the future that I can present to you more talented writers.

A lot of things have been happening which have made it a bit difficult to get any book reviews done in the recent past. But I wish to change this month by sharing with you:

  • Books to read on those long summer days
  • How to go about starting a Book Club
  • Books that explain Ramadan and some great books to read during Ramadan
  • Books that celebrate Eid

UPDATE: I’m so happy to announce that the author Naima B. Robert will be stopping by here on July 23rd as part of the Blog Tour for her new book Boy vs. Girl.

In the meantime remember to have a look at how best to Search this blog to find what you are looking for. Check out the new Media for Muslims page. If you are new, please take the Poll (find it on the sidebar at right). And don’t forget to check the Announcements page (see the top of the page under the header) for the latest book and reading related information such as reading competitions etc.

Best wishes and Happy Reading!

Ma’salaama (with peace)
