The 42nd Cairo Inernational Book Fair is over but if you had an opportunity to visit you may have benefitted a great deal especially if you know Arabic. Publishers from around the world, particularly Arab countries, display their books in what is one of the world’s largest book fairs (and the oldest in the Arab world).
The majority of the material is in arabic but there are materials available in other languages as well including French. Also, while most of the material for sale pertain to Islam, some fiction books, of which children’s books are part of, can also be found. Children’s books publishers Scholastic, Ladybird and Longman had booths at the book fair. However, acording to what some visitors to book fair told me, the children’s books in arabic were primarily educational material such as workbooks.
